New Roof Structure Roof Raise Conversion with 1 Bedroom & En-Suite in Oxford
This case study details one of our loft conversions that required us to build a completely new roof structure that was also higher than the previous existing roof to gain the required height for the new rooms.
The existing roof was a double hipped roof on the front that finished in to a gable end on the rear of the property so the alterations required were quite considerable to get this sort of conversion to work but you can see from the end result the space that is created by being able to add the large rear dormer and new gable ends to both sides of the new roof is sizeable and uncomplicated internally.
The existing lower front roof remained untouched but we completely re-roofed this as well by adding new breathable felt, tile battens, and tiles to match in with the rest of the new roof structure.
Internally we created a large master bedroom with a walk in style wardrobe area and a shower room en-suite, a new anthracite grey sliding door with glass frameless Juliette balcony add extra light to the new bedroom with matching anthracite grey modern sliding sash windows either side, light in the new shower room, walk in wardrobe area, and new stairwell is provided by Velux roof windows in the new front roof structure.
This style of conversion takes a bit more thought to create than most conversions and also requires a planning application to be made due to the existing roof line being raised but the extra effort is well worth it and shows that when you think outside the box with a new design pretty much anything is possible, the photos in the slideshow of this case study show all of the end results as well as the property as it was before so you can see what the existing roof looked like and the changes required.
